Once upon a time,

there was a certain SPYder

whose intelligence far exceeded

that of the CageyBees, Mooseheads

and SeeEyeYays of the world.

He could gather secrets like no one else,

from far and wide, because he moved

about virtually unnoticed. He could

hop a train, plane or even a submarine;

it just took a little planning.

He had access to any palace, villa, courthouse

townhouse or outhouse anywhere in the world.

He could just crawl into a cozy little corner,

lay back, and get the inside poop on everyone’s

secret evil deeds.

The novelty of scheduling trips and constantly moving

wore off, and besides, “What will I do with all

this intel?” he mused. “But there must be a big market

for all the dirty laundry I collect.

“It would be worth my while to invent a way to

collect and sell the secret evil deeds, and become

a big success, and work out of my own house.”

So, SPYder hired his private Army of Arachnids,

highly skilled in weaving deceitfully,

to make a gigantic invisible world wide web.

“I’ll call it the DoubleYou-Double-Youse-Double-Use.

Oh forget it; I’ll just call it the Internment,

for surely, it will catch on and be the death of many.”

So the web was completed, and it was the day of launching.

A huge crowd of all types of Users and MisUsers from

all around the world signed up. They all got on line:

the rulers and the common folks, to share and to snare,

to snoop and to scoop, to buy and to sell, and anything

they imagined, they did it by the Internment.

After a while, SPYder, being very self-satisfied,

thought, “I have stirred up the world sufficiently;

So he sold the Internment to

a questionable-sort-of-human-being,

an old zillionaire, who had ruthless intentions

to rule the world by wicked devices.

At his right hand he set a big hot button

marked ‘Censored.’ He gleefully rubbed

plunked his big fat index finger on it.

He encouraged Users to upload and share

the most evil content to corrupt and provoke

fighting and wars between people and nations.

But, whenever the Good Book Gang uploaded

good content, down came that big fat

index finger on the hot button.

Now, the Good Book Gang grew, and their nimble

fingers were faster on the draw in uploading

good stuff than old Fat Finger on his hot button.

And now, even the common folks were getting

into the act – cutting, pasting and sharing

faster than he could keep up with them,

and the good news leaked out all over the web.

As the good news spread all around the world.

Fat Finger’s control was now under serious jeopardy.

He called in SPYder’s personal Army of Arachnids

and demanded a technical solution.

The Arachy Army said, “We only take orders

from our boss, SPYder.” And with that,

the Arachys crawled all over him.

“Get off me!” he yelped;

“Help!” he screamed –

as he passed out and away.

Before the Arachys departed, they pressed

‘alternate-control-delete’ on the motherboard,

and took down the whole doggone world wide web.

At the cemetery, SPYder hobbled down his web

on the branch of a tree for a closer look

as the grave diggers lowered

the zillionaire’s coffin into the ground.

SPYder scratched his grey head and remarked,
