I give consent to be governed in exchange for a vote. I create the government by paying taxes, and those people who I vote for get to spend those taxes. That's the agreement. Now if I'm part of the minority vote and it's a legitimate vote, I'm still obligated to pay taxes because the contract is not violated. However, if my vote is not valid or illegitimized by another reason other than my own doing, the contract is broken. Thereby, I withdraw my consent to be governed and refuse to pay taxes because the contract is null and void.
This is what is meant by no taxation without representation!
