California Democrats are working hard to undo Proposition 13, a decades old law that protects homeowners and businesses. One America’s Pearson Sharp explains how the state’s attorney general is trying to confuse voters into supporting billions of new taxes every year.

I love it 🥰 California deserves it.
This is not happening. Check OAN and the ties it has to far-right groups.
Over 1200 people leave California every week now and have been for 7 years and they take all their money with them
Criminals
It's their way of cornering the real estate market.
Just read a list of best small towns in other states to visit. Another time I read about the best one for seniors. hmmm

We're on our way out in the next year. I remember when this passed in 72-73?, and it saved my mom and dad from loosing their house, and prices weren't that bad then. I'm disabled and hobbling from month to month. I won't miss this place, and I was born here.
As if California is not already a tax heavy state!
Scumbag!
THis also means there will be no cap on property taxes. She is right. That is wrong. This is especially bad for the elderly who already own their homes, but are on fixed incomes. With no cap on prop taxes, they will lose their homes – this was one of the big reasons why Prop. 13 was put in place. True, Prop. 13 did take money from public schools when it passed because schools get their money from local property taxes, the ripple effect was that the arts were put into block grants, but, and as much as I hate to say it, it is better than losing your home because you cannot afford your property taxes.
Fake News…
The California Secretary of State website said there is an initiative called "The California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act of 2020." It has received at least 25% of required signatures to qualify for the Nov. 2020 ballot. This initiative would undo the property tax caps of Prop 13, but only for commercial and industrial properties. This initiative would not take away the Prop 13 protections for residential properties, California Secretary of State Spokesperson Sam Mahood said.
FAKE NEWS! THIS ONLY AFFECTS BUSINESSES THAT HAVE OWNED LAND FOR DECADES SINCE WAY BACK TO THE 40S. THEY WILL BE REASSESSED EVERY 3 YEARS AND THEIR RATE IS STILL THE SAME 1%. RESIDENCES IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PROPOSAL. ONE AMERICA NEWS IS NOW TRUMPS FAVORITE CHANNEL BECAUSE THEY ALSO MAKE ADORATION ARTICLES ABOUT HIM. YOU NOTICE THAT THEY NEVER HAVE VOICE FOR THE AG. BIG CLUE. NO AG IN ANY STATE MAKES FINANCIAL LAW. OR ANY LAW. HE IS ONLY THE HEAD ATTORNEY AS IN HIS TITLE “ATTORNEY GENERAL. BUT I HAD TO SCOLD MY DEM FRIENDS FOR SHARING AND BELEIVING THIS. THE OTHER CLUE IS THAT IF ITS A “NEWS CHANNEL” ON YOUTUBE ITS ALWAYS FAKE!
NOW I WILL BE REPORITNG ANY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE FOR THIS FACT FACT. THIS IS THE ALT RIGHT ONCE AGAIN TRYING TO TAKE DOWN CALIFORNIA.

News is misleading folks. The prop would modify prop 13 only for commercial buildings and NOT homeowners. Do your research. However, having said that, the only prop I support is one that reduces taxes….
"The official statement, which was released Thursday by Democratic Attorney General Xavier Becerra, will headline the petitions expected to hit the streets Monday. Backers of a plan to split the tax rolls, changing Prop. 13 for commercial property while leaving it intact for homeowners, need to collect almost 1 million signatures to qualify it for the November 2020 election."
They’re not taking it away, has anyone actually read the legislature? None of this is based in reality…it’s on specific commercial properties. Not residential.
Anyone who actually is acquainted with this knows that this video is completely bogus. There IS a movement to put on the ballot a modification of Prop 13, which would exclude commercial property from its protections. Mind you, this is a popular movement that continues to collect voter signatures in order to qualify for the ballot. Assuming it to be successful with the voters at large, it will rectify what has for decades been an inequity. I was already a CA voter when Prop 13 passed, it its proponents NEVER mentioned that giant corporations would enjoy the benefits considerably more than the fixed income elderly homeowners it was sold as protecting. There is an initiative called "The California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act of 2020." It has received at least 25% of required signatures to qualify for the Nov. 2020 ballot. This initiative would undo the property tax caps of Prop 13, but ONLY for commercial and industrial properties. This initiative would not take away the Prop 13 protections for residential properties, California Secretary of State Spokesperson Sam Mahood said.
Hah! "What he's doing is a mass manipulation"…says the woman in the video. In actuality, what SHE'S doing is an attempt at mass manipulation. Nowhere on this video does she acknowledge that NO homeowner would see their property taxes go up as a result of this proposition's passage. She's clearly a stooge for the large commercial interests who have reaped grotesque profits while the lack of tax revenue due to the original proposition has resulted in CA schools going from near the top in the nation to the lower depths. Shame on the liars who produced and posted this video!
Hardcore extreme right news organization. Don't swallow what they want you to believe, their job is to stir the pot.
That's what happens people when you LET IT HAPPEN SPEAK UP DONT LET THE FUNNY DEMOCRATS MAKE YOU LEAVE YOUR STATE VITE PEOPLE GET OFF YOUR PHATTT ASSS AND VOTE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY WE AS A MOJORITY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN IS ENOUGH ??????????????
WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO GET OUT AND VOTE YOUR OPINION…
Wouldn't I just LOVE to get rid of our Governor and the AG, but Liberal California has passed the tipping point — Dems outnumber Republicans, and the election rules stipulate that only the top two candidates, even if both are from the same party, will make it to the ballot. So, the likelihood of Dems promoting a Republican candidate for elected office?
The proposed Prop 13 revision would only affect commercial and industrial properties, and leaves residential property tax protections alone. However: what do you suppose the owners of those commercial and industrial properties will do when their property taxes increase: Say, "Oh, well," just roll with the punches, or increase the price of whatever goods they produce, and further increase the cost of living in California (which is already one of the most heavily taxed states in the country)? We've passed these kinds of measures before, with proceeds earmarked for schools and infrastructure, and then the funds are hijacked and spent somewhere else, and new measures (can you say 'gas tax'?) are put in place and that money disappears and is frittered away elsewhere.
we have a homeless problem and now we want to make owning a home more expensive ??
that wnch is so attractive
But of course. How else can they possibly provide for every need of illegal aliens in the state? Not to mention increased crime and sanctuary cities. Citizens be damned, we have millions of illegal votes to look out for!
vote RED get rid of Democrat
Total misinformation as the constitutional amendment that's on the ballot exempts residential properties and commercial/industrial properties that are valued below $3M.
Keep the Borders Open, Keep Pelosi and Democrats in Office–no worries, we will raise your taxes to pay for it.
OAN media. Now there is a reliable source for information 😐

ATTENTION: This change only affects businesses, not residential. Stop letting businesses scare you into lowering their taxes.
People who dont own houses dont realize that like many other places that tax, it's based on every 1000.00 of the property values determine not by real sellable numbers, but by values they makeup on their schedules. A 200,000.00 house would mean that the taxes are increased every year by the almost 13.00 per every 1000.00; 200 x 13.00, 2600.00 of new taxes on the taxes from last year's taxes. And many people who vote for it dont think their tent will go up? And not just be the costs of taxes, but for the added expense of carrying those new taxes spread throughout the year.
Title a bit disingenuous, not a fan of AG, and no doubt ballot measures are deceptively written, but many large corporations have avoided fair tax by legal arbitrage and Prop 13 most likely does need an overhaul.
"Both measures would raise taxes on commercial and industrial property by requiring reassessment at current market value at least every three years. This type of property tax is known as a “split-roll tax” because it splits the property tax roll, assessing business property differently than residential property."
I received a mailer supposedly from the CA GOP and it is advising voters to vote Yes on Prop 13. DON’T BE FOOLED! It is a mailer from a Democrat organization! Vote NO on 13!!
The truth on the new Prop 13 … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WarlLORQELQ
Please explain what the attorney general has to do with tax legislation?
fuck the democrats, simply, FUCK THE DEMOCRATS
For everyone that’s saying this won’t affect homeowners but only corporations if I’m understanding this correctly, I have one question for y’all. If the corporations are required to pay a higher tax rates, who do you think will pay that higher tax in the long run? That cost will be passed onto the consumers which could potentially price people out of their homes because the price of everything said corporations make will go up. If I’m wrong let me know.
BTW, The current Prop 13 on the ballot has nothing to do with the 1978 prop 13. It is a school facilities improvement tax. It will raise property taxes just like voting for a water bond.
The State of California Touts a 7 Billion Dollar Surplus. If that is the case then you have to ask yourself why the money grab? They actually should be giving the money back to it's rightful owners, the Citizens of California.
Look who supports it, developers and paid off Politicians that are lying to the people. The State is already required to remove Asbestos, lead and have working Fire alarms in ALL! schools and already completed this work, this is a money grab by Corrupt liars in Sacramento. The Gas tax was suppose to fix the roads and bridges, now they want more money with Tolls roads and increasing bridge tolls. They always go after taxpayers, and these liars always use "better schools" as a cover for their lies. If they want money, stop spending money on the now $80 billion dollar train to nowhere, Take pensions away from convicted government workers that are collecting a pension for molesting kids, stealing money and even murder. There is a convicted teacher, that fed his sperm to children, getting a Taxpayer pension, while in prison, There are police officers that were convicted of murder, getting a taxpayer paid pension, while sitting in prison. Stopping these rewards for criminal / Perverts would save the State of California over $1 Billion dollars. Stopping the over $80 Billion crazy train, would save even more money. The liars in Sacramento must stop wasting taxpayers money. Vote NO on prop 13
California is a liberal shithole
If anyone’s got actual balls then go read the fireball manifesto of prop 13, poster below. If anything ya’ll should vote yes because it only talks about borrowing money and distributing to the schools deteriorating conditions. Which is true cause none of you read what it’s and started dissing lies!

Why not just cut down more on the services and tell the public the Government cannot afford all the services provided to the taxpayers with the cap rate and increasing inflation, higher pay, and decreasing money value? Besides that, this news is wrong about how Proposition 13 works to tax people anyways. 1% of the market value? If it was 1% of the current market value cap, California wouldn't be financially struggling right now. The taxable amount is capped to the original purchased price of the property. Even if the housing price goes up by 100%, California is paying a much lower rate. Imagine California changing the minimum wage to $2.00/hour to roll back to the old days. I'm kidding, they wouldn't and shouldn't do that, since there are taxes paid from income and spending to make up for the losses on tax revenue caused by Proposition 13. zzzz
I love it.. Please raise taxes even more make it 20% to live in California.. Make sure all homeless people get free housing… Make sure anyone who is Mexican or black gets a $1000 per month subsidy.. Because they deserve it.. Make sure you have a white penalty tax of 10% of anyone's income… Make sure businesses pay flat rate tax of 50%.. Raise property tax 2.5%.. Get rid of all police departments.. Pay school teachers a $150000 per year… Utopia can be had.. I applaud California failure.. I want people to see how liberals destroy a state.. But they will go to Texas and Arizona and Nevada and still vote Democrat from what they are escaping.. That makes a lot of sense
